Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet - Review and Swatches

Received this crazy generous package from Bourjois and I wanna cry when I saw this. I bought a few of these when they first came out (YEARS BACK) and recommended them to everyone cause I really love them. I even wore No. 7 Nude-ist for my ROM + photoshoot okay!!

My SIL fell in love so hard with these when I let her try and she now constantly owns 2 Nude-ist okay. 1 to use and 1 as backup. I kid u not lol

Okay, I'll announce giveaway details at the bottom k.

No joke, I'm really a huge fan of the brand. I used to save my pocket money to buy their blushes and nail polishes when I was younger LOLOL. Good times. I started out vain like this. πŸ˜‚

These areavailable in SG watsons too but I got mine from London. You can read my reviews for the products I've tried here, here, and here so yes, I'm a huge fan of the brand and I think they make amazing lip products.

So today, I wanna swatch all the Rouge Edition Velvet shades they sent. The shades don't appear true in the bottle (imo) so I think hand and lip swatches will help you all choose the shades u want.

I didn't arrange them in numeric order (cause I'm anal). I arranged them according to shades (lightest to darkest) instead - peach/corals, mauves, purples and reds.

I thought this would be better to compare so u can just go straight to the shades u normally wear.

I will also show full lip swatches first and show you my favourite way of wearing it with my fave shades + video included! I'll also talk more about why these are da BOMB and one of my favourite lipsticks ever.

Corals

I'm into a very peach-phase after receiving the Vely Vely box and these are right up my alley now.

I never knew I can pull these shades off but I'm not complaining leh.

Peach Club and Poppy Days look really similar as arm swatch but πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

So different on lips right!

Honey Mood: Peachy nude - the nude makes it look alil streaky but once it dries and settles finely, it doesn't show as much. I love pairing this with one of the darker coral to do a gradient.

Peach Club: Peachy coral - this shade is damn stunning. I love the color and if u wanna try a coral, and don't dare to go for smth too loud, this is just nice.

Poppy Days: Neon orange/coral - this is super bright and loud BUT if u wear it as a gradient (I'll show the vid later), it is DAMN NICEEEEE.

Mauves/MLBB

THIS IS MY FAVE RANGE. I own 3 out of these 4 so yes, three of these are in the giveaway!!!!

I know these 4 look really similar and my lip swatches are gonna look quite close but trust me, they are really diff irl. Like they all have their differences. (But if u ask my husband, he's just gonna go 'pink' πŸ˜‚)

Don't Pink of It: Light cool-toned baby pink. This would look great on fair-toned girls lah. If u are slightly tanner or on the more yellow side, it's gonna make u look washed out.

So Hap'pink: Slightly brighter blue-toned pink.

Nude-ist: Neutral mauve-pink. This is my FAVOURITE shade. I mean, I wore this for my ROM. That says a lot, I guess. It's STUNNING and one of those shades that look great on a lot of skin tones. Highly recommend this shade πŸ’•

Beau Brun: Slightly darker pink-mauve compared to Nude-ist. My new obsession. It's the only shade I wore in HCMC when I was there just cause it's a pretty MLBB, not too loud and paired well even tho I didnt wear makeup there.

Purples

I own Ping Pong too! It's really not my normal color range but I wanted to try smth brighter at that time and it was such a pretty shade in the tube. I'm a sucker for such stuff LOL.

Ping Pong: Bright fuchsia pink

Ole Flamingo: Hot pink

Plum Plum Girl: Plum-purple. This one appears sheerer than most of the shades; esp the first two as u can see. It's very pigmented compared to this one. But cause it's rather muted, it's a very nice introduction to purples and slightly dark shades if u are looking for that.

Reds

Sigh 😍 I love reds. I can't wait to wear one of it to NDP Parade (Hahahaha I can't believe we managed to get tix to go πŸ˜‚)

Frambourjoise: Blue-toned light red

Fu(n)chsia: Blue-toned brighter red. These two look incredibly similar. The arm swatches show that Frambourjoise has a darker hue and Fu(n)chsia is brighter but can't really tell the diff on lips.

It's redding men!: Classic bright red

Jolie-de-vin: Dark blue-toned red. This looks really dark in the tube but is beautiful irl. Not as dark and vampy as it seems but more dark sexy red.

Okay, end of swatches. Gonna tell u more about the lippies okay.

β€’ texture is AMAZING. Everyone I've recommended to are blown away by the texture. It is incredibly soft and moussey-like
β€’ pigmentation is πŸ‘πŸΌ
β€’ very comfortable to wear - not drying at all!
β€’ shade range is pretty wide - got shades for fair to dark-skinned ladies and both cool/warm-toned!
β€’ takes a while to settle and do transfer a little
β€’ $25 each - available in Watsons!

Onto my favourite way of wearing these recently. Because of their soft texture, these blend like a baby (actually, idk how a baby would blend 🀣) and once they settle, it's like smeared beautiful clouds on ur lips LOLOL my description tho.

I would dab some right in the middle of my lips, smack my lips together gently, and then use my fingers to run over the edges. When it settles, the gradient effect is just damn bae 😍😍😍

The video was done using IG-stories so it's not the best lah. Don't judge me pls haha

Easy peasy πŸ™†πŸ»

Show you all some gradient I did with the darker shades (cause that's how I prefer my gradients but u can basically use the same technique for any of the shades!)

很美 lah the colors. I have just been using them this way ever since I realize they blend amazingly. It's so easy just to blend away the edges lah. Go try to try! Sometimes, if I'm adventurous 🀣, I'll blend two colors to spice things up alil. These are all done with just one shade tho!

Thankful to work with a brand I've been a loyal supporter of!
